Austin Trip

We had a great time to Austin last weekend.  We stayed at the W Austin in the city's downtown area.  The room was great:

We could see the river from our room as well as this state-pride riverboat.

Statue of Willie Nelson outside our hotel:

Our first night out we went to Stubb's bbq with friends who drove in from Houston.

Then we hit up Contigo, an outdoor bar with live music.  What a great scene:

We ended the night out on 6th Street, Austin's version of Bourbon Street.

The next morning, we toured the Lyndon B. Johnson Presidential Library, which is on UT's campus.

This is the limo LBJ used when he came to Texas:

We were able to see a special exhibit of George Washington's personal copy of the Constitution with his handwritten notes:

The replica Oval Office:

Brack meeting LBJ:

Then we walked around UT's campus.  This is the view of the stadium from the library:

The Tower at UT:

We went boot shopping at Allen's Boots:

Every night at dusk millions of bats emerge from under the Congress St. bridge and fly into the night:

The next morning we toured the state capitol:

This is the old Texas Supreme Court room:

The Texas House of Representatives:

The Texas Senate:

We had dinner at Uchi, Austin's highest rated restaurant.  It did not disappoint and Brack even ate a ton of sushi!

On our last morning, we went through the Texas State History Museum, detailing the history of the state from Mexico to the present day.
