Lima, Peru

We arrived in Lima, Peru on Saturday and had a great time seeing the city.  We stayed at the Marriott in Miraflores, which is right on the ocean.  We had both sun and clouds as you can see from the two pictures:

Our first order of business was ceviche for lunch.  So yummy!

We took a guided tour of Museo Larco in the afternoon, which houses tons of pre-Columbian art and artifacts.

On Sunday morning, we did a walking tour of Central Lima.  Most of the sights were unfortunately closed due to elections.  Apparently, the entire city practically shuts down because of mandatory voting.

We still were able to see many things, including San Francisco Church:

The Cathedral:

Archbishop's palace:

City Hall buildings:

Government Palace:

There are many colorful houses on the hill on the outskirts of the city:

We walked to the Park d'Amor and saw the mosaic benches and the sculpture nicknamed "The Kiss."

There were plenty of surfers out in Miraflores:

We also walked around the artsy Barranco district and saw the Bridge of Sighs:
